If you're learning Esperanto, you can watch it on Reelang: vlogs, podcasts, street interviews, and other real videos from fluent speakers. It's a way to hear how Esperanto actually sounds in use and pick up vocabulary in context.

The word check, the new videos at your level, your Reelang Chart when it climbs: if you'd rather get those as a notification on your phone than in your inbox, you can. One setting picks where we reach you, email, notifications, both or neither, and another sets the most you want to hear from us. The app asks first, in plain words, so you know what you're saying yes to.

Some languages are spoken across many countries, and the accents can vary a lot. When you pick up one of those, your feed starts with the varieties most learners come here to practice, instead of throwing every accent at you at once. You can widen it to all of them whenever you want.

Already learning, and set on one particular variety? Choose exactly which accents and dialects go into your feed, and which stay out. Learning German with your life in Switzerland? Keep Swiss German front and center. Settled in Argentina? Make Rioplatense the Spanish you hear. Learning Arabic? Put your feed on Levantine and keep it there, instead of landing on Egyptian or Gulf halfway through.

Learning Tagalog and no idea which video will lose you in the first ten seconds? On our YouTube channel there's a playlist for every language at every level: one for beginner Tagalog, one for beginner Hindi, and on up through the harder ones. Every video in a playlist has been graded at that level, so you can hit play, save the playlist, and come back as it fills out. No account, nothing to install.

Reelang is coming to Android, starting deliberately narrow with Portuguese focus, both European and Brazilian. The same feed of real videos at your level, built for the screen you already scroll on any day.

Videos that start sooner, less waiting between clips, and controls that sit where you expect them. We're going through the player piece by piece and cutting anything that slows you down or makes you hunt for a button.

In addition to the watch feed, some learners prefer browsing on their own to find their next video, which is currently possible for a part of the catalog, but is a bit of a clunky experience.

We fit smart captions to the Arabic people actually speak, not "Arabic" as one language. Watching something in Egyptian, Iraqi, Levantine, Gulf or Moroccan, the words picked out as common are the ones common in that dialect, so the everyday vocabulary you need stands out instead of the bookish word nobody around you says.

Flick up and the next video is there. Flick down to go back. The swipe works anywhere on the screen, on your phone, a tablet, or a laptop with a touchscreen. And wherever you can swipe, the old next button is gone, which leaves more room for the video and the subtitles.

Open your feed and the first video plays. No frozen first frame, no hunting for a play button before you've even started. On iPhone and in Safari, where videos are the most stubborn about starting by themselves, the player now notices when that first clip gets stuck and quietly gets it going.

Auto-pause stops the video after each subtitle line so you can repeat it out loud or let it sink in. Loop plays the same line over and over. Switched on together, the loop quietly won: the video stopped right where a pause would, then played on by itself, even though both buttons looked on. The two work as a team, so a looping line still waits for you at the end instead of rushing ahead.

Everything you do while you watch shapes your Reelang+ feed: the videos you finish, a thumbs up or down, a tap on "too fast", "too hard" or "too easy", the accents and creators you keep coming back to. The feed reacts to all of that quicker, and it digs deeper through the catalog to find the right video for the right moment. Words you look up get spaced repetition built into the feed itself: a new video uses the word again a few days later, timed so it comes back right when you'd start to forget it.

Learning more than one language with us? Coming back to Spanish after a spell on French could drop you right back onto the same clip you had already watched, skipped, or marked too easy. Your feed now keeps track of each language on its own, so every one of them picks up where you left off.

Right now everything in your feed is on the shorter side. But a lot of good content for learners isn't: plenty of comprehensible input, especially for beginners, runs twenty minutes or more. A story told all the way through, a long walk-and-talk, a whole slow lesson. This lets you watch those too, up to an hour, so you can stay with one video instead of hopping between clips.

Starting a language from zero? We're teaming up with Christian and the Languages on Fire team. Their vocab decks use spaced repetition to teach you the few hundred words that carry most everyday speech, and they make it fun. Learn those first and the beginner videos here open up: less pausing, more following.

The little "did you know?" notes that explain a cultural habit, or how a phrase really gets used on the street, are coming to many more videos. So more clips arrive with the story behind what you just heard.

A public collection of watch tips from language teachers: the shows, podcasts, YouTube channels and TikTok or Instagram creators they'd point their own students to, per language and dialect. Open to everyone, whether you use Reelang or not.

Looking for one of our videos on Google, or asking ChatGPT where to find comprehensible input in your language? You might not find us. Every site hands search engines and AI agents like ChatGPT a list of its pages so they know what to come and read. Ours goes blank exactly where the video pages belong, so the videos we keep adding sit there unfound.

There is giant demand for comprehensible input and very few creators focussing on the right levels and topics where actual demand is.

On some videos the captions appear as long, run-on blocks with no punctuation or capitalization — a single caption line can run for many seconds of unbroken text, which makes it hard for learners to read along and follow the sentence.

Learning English but the site itself is hard to read? We're building a version of Reelang written in the simplest, most common words we can find. Menus, buttons, tips, everything, all rewritten so you can find your way around even when your English is still shaky. No clever wordplay, no slang, nothing that sends you to the dictionary. If you know basic English, you can use it.

The player should feel quick and get out of your way, not make you sit and wait. So we're making it snappier and faster to load, with less freezing and fewer little stalls that break your focus while you're trying to learn.

Watching on an iPhone or iPad and the video kept stalling, staying silent, or just refusing to get going? That's fixed. On those devices you now give the video one tap to start it, and from there it plays through with sound like normal. No more fighting with a player that won't wake up.

Tap the thumbs up on a video, then reload the page: the heart can show up empty again, as if you never liked it. The like itself is saved, the player just forgets to show it.

Stuck on a video that's over your head, or breezing through one that's too easy? You can always reach for something a step easier or harder. Your feed bends to you, not the other way around.

As you watch, the captions mark how common each word is. Hit a word you don't know? The highlight tells you whether it's an everyday word, one of the most common 500, 1,000, or 2,000 in the language, or something genuinely rare. So you decide on the spot: look it up and learn it, or let it slide and follow the gist. You don't have to understand every single word.

Drop the speed when the talk gets quick, so you can follow every word, then bring it back up as your ear adjusts.

Replay a sentence as many times as you need, until your ear catches it. Useful when someone says something fast and it flies past.

A word-by-word check misses phrases like "social butterfly": every word in it is common, but the phrase together isn't. Each video now flags one of these too, right alongside the individual words above your level, each with a plain gloss.

Reelang runs on Vercel today. It looks after the servers for us, and every change we make goes live on its own. We're moving the site onto containers we run ourselves on AWS, with Cloudflare in front of them.
