Moving the website from Vercel onto our own AWS servers
Live for everyone, right now.
Reelang runs on Vercel today. It looks after the servers for us, and every change we make goes live on its own. We're moving the site onto containers we run ourselves on AWS, with Cloudflare in front of them.
Traffic has grown a lot this year, and managed hosting like that gets expensive fast once it does. Running the containers ourselves costs something closer to a tenth of it. The trade is that it's fiddlier to set up and staying healthy is now our job rather than Vercel's, but we'd rather put the difference into more languages and more features. If we do this right, you won't notice a thing.
Tried it? Tell us how it lands. We're in r/Reelang.
