What is “salibandy” in Finland?

This comedy try-out drops a clueless recruit into a serious club: «maailman suurimmassa salibandiseurassa, Eräviikingeissä» (“in one of the world’s biggest floorball clubs, the Eräviikingit”). Salibandy is floorball, an indoor hockey-like game played with a light plastic ball and a stick, and Finland is one of its world powers.

Born from “sali” (gym hall) plus “bandy,” it’s a Finnish national pastime: leagues, school gyms, and casual pickup games everyone calls sähly. Few sports are this Finnish; hundreds of thousands play, and the country regularly battles Sweden for the world title. The clip mines the gulf between weekend sähly and the elite Salibandyliiga for laughs.
