What does “pohoda” mean in Slovak?
Asked how a gig went, the guy shrugs it off happily: «No, v pohodičke» (“yeah, all chill”). Pohoda is that prized state of relaxed, easygoing contentment, everything’s fine, no stress, and v pohode is the everyday “it’s all good / no worries.”
It’s a cornerstone of Slovak (and Czech) life, the unbothered calm of a good day, a bit like Danish hygge crossed with “chilled out.” Here it’s softened into the diminutive pohodička, extra cosy. Fittingly, Slovakia’s biggest music festival is just called Pohoda. Say “som v pohode” and you’re fluent in the national mood.
