Medjugorje tra fede, scienza e interessi economici

What does “pellegrinaggio” mean in Italian?
Telling the story of Medjugorje’s Marian apparitions, the narrator marks what the village became: «è diventata una delle mete di pellegrinaggio più frequentate al mondo» (“it became one of the world’s most visited pilgrimage destinations”). Pellegrinaggio means “a pilgrimage.”
A pellegrino is a pilgrim, and pellegrinare is to make the journey, words deeply woven into Catholic Italy, from the Cammino routes to Rome and Assisi. The clip’s hook is the tension it sets up next: two million visitors a year, and the question of what science makes of it all. Faith and footfall, in one word.
