Κουρεματάρα σε μπαρμπέρικο στη Θεσσαλονίκη

What does “κουρεματάρα” mean in Greek?
Greek loves the ending -άρα the way English loves “epic.” Stick it on a noun and it stops being a regular thing and becomes a big, dramatic, almost cinematic version of itself. Κούρεμα is “a haircut.” Κουρεματάρα is that haircut, the one your barber spent forty minutes on, complete with hot towels, scissor-work and a ceremonial hand-mirror reveal at the end.
The same ending stretches across daily life: φαγητό becomes φαγητάρα (a feast of a meal), δουλειά becomes δουλειάρα (a beast of a job). In this clip, “σπέσιαλ κουρεματά” in a Thessaloniki μπαρμπέρικο sets the scene for the whole reel.
