What does '能X就X' mean in Mandarin?

能X就X (néng X jiù X) is a Mandarin pattern that puts the same verb on both sides of 就 to mean if you can X, just X. 能吃就吃 (eat when you can), 能睡就睡 (sleep when you can), 能赚就赚 (earn when you can). The construction reads as casual, often cheeky, sometimes morally grey.

In this clip the comedian uses the pattern at its slipperiest: « 能騙就騙 » (lie when you can). The setup is a sperm-donation form that asks whether he has a regular sexual partner; he tells his friends he plans to lie on the form if it gets him through.
