Sevgilisine kızdığını sananları ters köşe eden sahne
A2 Turkish luisteroefening · Turks · Geschikt voor beginners
What does “ters köşe” mean in Turkish?
This scene sets you up to judge a “moody girlfriend,” then flips it: «olduğunu düşündünüz değil mi? Yanılıyorsunuz» (“you thought that, didn’t you? You’re wrong”). That flip is a ters köşe, a plot twist, a move that catches you off guard, literally “reverse corner.”
The phrase comes from football: a ters köşe goal is one struck to the corner opposite the way the keeper dives, the unguarded side. Turks borrowed it for any surprise that wrong-foots you: a film’s ters köşe ending, or “beni ters köşeye yatırdı” (“he completely blindsided me”). Sport becomes everyday metaphor.
