What does 'mamãezinha' mean in Brazilian Portuguese?
Mamãezinha is mãe (mother) with two coats of warmth on it: first the affectionate mamãe (mommy), then the diminutive -inha on top. It’s the form Brazilian kids use to coax, soften a request, or apologize. Adults use it in jest, especially toward their own mothers, almost always with a small smile or an ask attached.
In this sketch, the daughter spends the clip ducking her mother’s requests, « faço jejum » (I’m fasting), « esqueci minha bolsa » (I forgot my purse), then lands the soft turnaround: « não se preocupe, mamãezinha, eu já peguei pra você » (don’t worry, little mommy, I already grabbed it). The mother’s deadpan: « o que que essa criança tem? » (what’s up with this child?).
