What does “craquer pour” mean in French?
Craquer is literally to crack or creak. Applied to a person, it names the moment resistance gives way: j’ai craqué pour cette carte means “I couldn’t resist that card — I bought it.” The same verb covers cracking under strain, so je craque at the end of a hard week means “I’ve had enough.” One image, pointed in two directions: temptation or pressure.
Both craquer pour and craquer sur are heard, and they work on people as readily as on objects — il a craqué pour elle is “he fell for her.” Dictionaries mark the figurative senses as informal, so it belongs in conversation and captions rather than in anything formal.
