What does “dogānegi” mean in Persian?
This clip skewers parents who don’t practice what they preach: kids must finish their plate and tidy their room, while the adults leave the dishes for tomorrow. The speaker asks: «این همه دوگانگی از کجا میاد» (“where does all this double standard come from?”). دوگانگی (dogānegi) means “duality, contradiction, double standard,” from دو (“two”).
It’s the word for any gap between what someone says and what they do, a parent’s hypocrisy, a society’s mixed messages. The clip’s gentle landing is that we were all kids once. دوگانگی is sharp, tidy, and endlessly useful for calling out inconsistency without raising your voice.
