What does “aufgebraucht” mean in German?

aufgebraucht means a supply has been completely used up — nothing is left. The word fits money, time, fuel, batteries, or a set number of hours. In the clip, a worker says his paid hours for the year are aufgebraucht: once they run out, his job stops until next year. It is not a choice to stop — the supply simply hit zero.

“Wenn meine Stunden aufgebraucht sind, dann ist mein Job für dieses Jahr erledigt.” — When my hours are used up, my job for this year is done. aufgebraucht describes a supply that is all gone — there is none left to use. It often goes with things you spend or consume: money, time, fuel, batteries, or a quota of hours. “Das Geld ist aufgebraucht.” — The money is all used up. “Mein Datenvolumen ist schon aufgebraucht.” — My data allowance is already used up. “Wir haben den ganzen Vorrat aufgebraucht.” — We have used up the whole supply. Note: you usually use it with “sein” (is used up) to describe the current state, or use the plain verb “aufbrauchen” when talking about the act of using something up.
